Biography   Gywe U Lun


U Lun Gywe is a Grand Art Master in Myanmar, whose work is increasingly gaining traction in the international art market. Having painted for over half a century, he studied under various renowned artists in Myanmar, like Saya U Thein Han, from 1958 to 1964. After this period of tutelage, he received the rare chance of going to the Central Art Academy in Beijing for a year, studying Eastern Chinese art and philosophy of fine arts. In 1971, he went to East Germany to study the restoration of oil paintings, at the same time establishing a firm foundation in Western art history. Today, his paintings are collected by the National Museum Yangon, Myanmar, as well as the Singapore Art Museum, amongst other art institutions of importance.
