Born in September 17, 1919, Warsaw Poland, Halina Kaminska Anneski was born into a family of theatrical performers. Her father was the Director of Warsaw Opera and her mother was a professional actress. Halina studied acting and was well know in Warsaw as an actress performing in many productions before Poland was invaded by Germany in WWII.
Halina attended private schools and the Polish University in Warsaw. Halina escaped from Poland after the invasion, but her beloved younger brother murdered in Poland during the resistance. She fled to Italy where she was incarcerated in a camp. She met her husband, Peter, who was in the U.S. Army and helped free her from the camp. They married shortly after
