Biography Hans Josef Weber-Tyrol
Hans Josef Weber-Tyrol (1874 Schwaz - 1957 Meran) was an Austrian painter. He studied at the Academy in Munich under Gabriel von Hackl, Nikolaus Gysis and Paul Höcker. He then made several trips to Rome, Venice, Genoa, Naples and Paestum, but returned to Munich and was a member of the Secession there. Since 1927 he has been permanently resident in South Tyrol and was founder of the artists' association "The New Covenant". He is considered a pioneer of modern painting in Tyrol. Sustainable he was influenced by his friendship with Albin Egger-Lienz from 1905th His works can be seen among others at the Belvedere in Vienna.
