Hans Ryggen (born December 10, 1894 in Ørland, died December 19, 1956 in Ørland) was a Norwegian painter, today most famous for his marriage with the tapestry artist Hannah Ryggen.
He was a farmer's son and eventually combined farming with painitng. He first studied privately with Ole Juul and Harald Krohg Stabell, later at the SHKS and the Academy of Arts in 1917, with Paul Gauguin before 1920, in Dresden 1921-22 and in Munich in 1923.
He me Hannah Jönsson from Malmö in Dresden in 1922. In 1924 they got married and moved to the "cottage" near Hans's homestead back.
