Born in Gomel, Russia in 1893. Davis (né Hershel Davod Davidovich) left Russia in 1910. By 1922 he had settled in Los Angeles where he worked for the movie studios and with Orestes Sarsi. He produced busts of Edison, Tolstoy, and other prominent figures in plaster of paris which he painted. He died in Los Angeles on Jan. 22, 1937.
