Born in Summersville, WV on Jan. 4, 1885. Winebrenner grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. He studied art with Taft and Mulligan at the University of Chicago and AIC where he won a scholarship for further study at the British Academy in Rome and Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He taught in the public schools in Chicago before settling in southern California about 1917. He was head of the art department at Venice High School for 26 years and fulfilled many sculpture commissions in the Venice area.
