Born on a ranch near Fresno, CA on June 22, 1890. Dixon was an apprentice to Dirk Van Erp in Oakland in 1908. He later had a studio in San Francisco in the old "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Pyramid) and taught at the local Artists Cooperative. The brother of painter Maynard Dixon, he died in Santa Rosa, CA on Sept. 4, 1967.
