The painter, Hazel Belvo was born in southern Ohio and grew up on a farm. The horse provided the power to operate the machinery on the family farm. Her grandfather was the farmer, who also played the fiddle. Grandmother quilted, gardened and loved to sing. Belvo's childhood influences planted seeds and things grew. Her mother was the head of the household. Mother was a butcher and owned her own meatpacking business. At an early age Belvo learned to cut meat. This started her education in anatomy, bones, muscle and physical structure.
