Hazel Frye Schwentker, 89, a Rapid City artist, died February 29, 1984. She was born October 28, 1894, on a farm near Panama, NE, to Henry R. and Minnie Alice Frye.
She attended country school and graduated from Panama High School and Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru. She taught in rural schools and high schools in Nebraska for six years.
She married O. Homer Schwentker May 24, 1920, at Omaha, NE. They moved to Rapid City the same year.
She taught drama and speech at Rapid City High School for one year. She was active in the arts, including drama, children's theater, flower arranging, choral speaking and poetry. She studied art under a nu
