Henry bill Selden was born in New London, Connecticut, on January 24, 1886 and died in Erie, PA. on January 25, 1924. He received his formal education at the Arts Students' League in New York with Charles Woodbury and Birge Harrison. Selden also studied with Frank Duvenech in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The artist exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1910 and 1911. He was a very active member of various organizations: Lyme Art Association, American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists Association, Artists Fun Society NY, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, the National Arts Club (established in 1898 in New York to foster applied arts) and the Salmagundi Club (established 1871) which was an early, very important art club in Ne
