Biography Henry Howe
Topographical artist and illustrator of his own work, Henry Howe published his first book, "Eminent Americans" in 1839. In 1841, he made many on-the-spot sketches for his "Historical Collection of the State of New York." His very popular book "Historical Collection of Virginia" (1945), which was reprinted for seven years, contains more than 100 wood engravings.
From 1847 to 1877, he lived in Cincinnati; from 1878 to 1885, he was in New Haven; and then it is thought he returned to Ohio where he died in Cincinnati on October 14, 1893.
