Biography Henry Bisbing
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Henry Bisbing was an animal painter and engraver who illustrated the 1872 and 1873 Hayden Survey reports. However, there is no official record of him having been in the West.
He began his career as a wood engraver and then became a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. In 1876, he studied in Munich, Germany at the Academy and in 1879 in Brussels as a student of the famous animal painter, JHL de Haas, who later said that Bisbing was among the most famous of animal painters. He finally settled in Paris and painted rural scenes of France and Holland.
