Biography   Herbert Charles Schumacher


Herbert Charles Schumacher was born on January 21, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas.  He earned a BFA, MFA, and EdD at the Univ. of Kansas. Pupil of J. Sheldon Carey.  Taught ceramics at the Univ. of Northern Colorado starting in 1963. Member: National Council on Education in Ceramic Arts.

Exhibitions: Museum of Contemporary Crafts, 1962; Wichita National Decorative Arts & Ceramics Exhibition, 1962, 1964, 1965; 20th Annual Scripps College Exhibition, 1964; Ceramic West Exhibition, 1972, 1973, 1974; Univ. of Northern Colorado, 1979.

Awards: Museum of New Mexico, 1967; American Craftsmen's Council, 1969; Colorado State Univ., 1970.

Collections: Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe, NM; Utah State Univ.
