Herbert W. Jackson, Ph.D., son of University of New Hampshire professor
emeritus C. Floyd Jackson, died on May 19, 2002. He was 91.
After 22 years as chief biologist with the U.S. Government Public
Health Headquarters in Cincinnati, Jackson returned to Durham, New Hampshire, the
hometown he loved.
He was known as Commodore of the Barnacles, a group
of Shoals Marine Lab alumni.
The Jackson Estuarine Laboratory was named in honor of his father, who
established a summer program for marine biology and zoology students on
the Isles of Shoals.
