Biography Hermann Stieffel
Born Wiesbaden, Germany, 1826; died Washington, DC, Dec. 14, 1886. Painter, specialized in primitive landscapes and figure. Had been a printer in New York City. Enlisted in the US Army in 1857 and served with Company K of the 5th Infantry in Kansas and Montana until May 1882.
