HOWARD SOMERVILLE ADAMSON (September 11, 1873 – July 2, 1952)

Portrait and landscape painter, illustrator, etcher. Born in Dundee, Scotland, to Jessie Leith (b. 1844) and James Adamson (b. 1842). His father was a prominent coal merchant in Dundee and the family resided in a home known as “Mount Pleasant House.” Howard Adamson was one of three brothers in a much larger family that all became prominent artists and illustrators.
