A prominent Canadian painter, draftsman, printmaker and educator, Hugh Seaforth Mackenzie (aka: Hugh Mackenzie) was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised in London, Ontario. He returned to Toronto in 1968 and has lived there since then. His life and work is discussed in several comprehensive Canadian art history books, his works are in over a dozen Canadian museums, and he has been a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts* since 1971. In 1967, he was selected to paint the official portrait of Prime Minister Lester Pearson.
