Biography Ikeda Lowe
Born in Miyazaki, Japan and raised in Chappaqua and Manhattan, New York, Ikeda Lowe now calls Savannah home. Her paintings are inspired by memories of cityscapes and landscapes. The more angular paintings represent impressions formed over twenty years of living and working in New York City. The organic, muted paintings stem from her travels throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe.
Ikeda uses color, often inspired by the changing seasons, to evoke a sense of intensity or tranquility. Multiple layers—made possible by mixing pigment with media in order to glaze and manipulate colors—manifest the ephemeral and vacillating nature of recollection.
