Ilka Howells Renwick Dufner (1876-1942)
Ilka Howells Dufner was the daughter of Henry C. and Georgina (Coggshell) Howells. Born in Flushing, Long Island, she came to Short Hills, New Jersey following her marriage in 1902 to the noted architect William Renwick (1864-1933). Except for several years spent in New York, she made this her home for the remainder of her life. Prominent in social circles, she was interested in art and the Renwick home on Old Short Hills road was the meeting place of many gatherings. Indeed, their three daughters were all artists.
