Biography Isaac Covington
Born in Orderville, Utah, he became an accomplished impressionist of western scenery in spite of never being able financially to become a full-time painter.
He studied at Brigham Young University with Elbert Hindley Eastmond, Chair of the Art Department. Most of his life, he lived in Hurricane and Provo, Utah, but in 1917 lived and painted in Harbor City, California, while he worked in the shipyards. He also lived in Los Angeles and Hollywood where he was a plasterer and painter of signs and movie sets.
In 1936, he was chosen by Brigham Young University to sketch scenes along the Mormon trail from Illinois to Utah, and the following year he was chosen to sketch the Indians in Arizona, New Mexico, and California.
