Iva Lucinda Abbey (March 25, 1882 – January 15, 1961)
Teacher, artist, pastellist. Born in Chester, Connecticut, the daughter of Sarah Bradley Smith (b. 1863) and Dr. Elmer Brooks Abbey (1862 – 1932). Her father was a dentist, and the family lived in New Britain, Connecticut until around 1896 when they moved north to Hartford, where the family resided on Ashley Street. Her middle name is sometimes reported incorrectly as “Lance.”
