Born: Weihl August 25, 1822
Died: Wiesbaden August 4, 1895
Studied at the Amsterdam Akademie.
He lived and worked in various European cities: Arnhem, Dusseldorf, Wageningen and from 1890 to his death in Wiesbaden.
1849-1850 he visited the United States and painted landscapes of the
Catskill Creek in the Catskill Mountains in New York and the Potomac
River in Virginia and West Virginia.
In Europe, he painted views
of the lake at Thun, the Berner Oberland, Geneva in moonlight, the
valley of Lauterbrunnen, the Jungfrau ,landscapes in Thuringen etc.
