Jan Derk Huibers was active/lived in Netherlands.  Jan Huibers is known for portrait and genre painting.

Biography   Jan Derk Huibers

The following information was submitted by the artist's great-granddaughter Gloria Williamson:

He was an art teacher but also a portrait and genre painter.  In 1871 he received a Royal Golden Consolation prize for his painting "Back Home" during an exhibition in Amsterdam.  The painting was sold for Dfl.1000.  He was a member of "Art et Amicitial" in Amsterdam.

Huibers was married and had three children, and it was passed on in the family, that his painting titled "Women feeding hens and chicks" hung in the Pan Pacific Exposition in San Francisco in 1913 in the Netherlands section. This painting and several others are owned by the family.
