Biography Jan Sluijters
Jan Sluijters belonged to the first generation of 'modern' painters in The Netherlands, together with Dutch painters Leo Gestel en Piet Mondriaan. He started his artistic training at the Amsterdam Art Academy in 1901.

His early works, often landscapes, were more Symbolist with Art Nouveau elements, now he started exploring his inner feelings.
