Jane C. Mahon Stanley (Mrs. Louis Crandall Stanley)   (1863-1940)

Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1863, she was the daughter-in-law of artist John Mix Stanley.  A noted watercolor artist in Detroit, she specialized in buildings, street scenes, bridges, and landscapes.  Mrs. Stanley worked and studied in many foreign countries: Spain, France, Guatemala, and Canada among others, and following foreign travels in 1927 and 1928, she spent more than a year in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Tucson, Arizona and in 1930 spent the winter in Tucson. During this time she did paintings with titles including San Xavier Mission, Catalina Mountains, Tucson; In Sabrino Canyon, Tucson; and Cinder Hill, Flagstaff.
