Jane C. Mahon Stanley (Mrs. Louis Crandall Stanley) (1863-1940)
Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1863, she was the daughter-in-law of artist John Mix Stanley. A noted watercolor artist in Detroit, she specialized in buildings, street scenes, bridges, and landscapes. Mrs. Stanley worked and studied in many foreign countries: Spain, France, Guatemala, and Canada among others, and following foreign travels in 1927 and 1928, she spent more than a year in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Tucson, Arizona and in 1930 spent the winter in Tucson.
