Janet Ament De La Roche (1916-2000)
Painter. Born in Hollywood, CA on December 31, 1916. Janet first studied in Los Angeles at Otis and Chouinard art institutes. While studying at Jepson Art Institute in 1947, she met and soon married artist, Victor Di Gesu. The couple spent four years in Europe and further studied in Paris at Académie de la Grande Chaumiere and Andre L'Hote Institute, and in Barcelona at Escuela de Belles Artes de San Jorge. Upon returning to California in 1956, they settled on the Monterey Peninsula and built a home in Pacific Grove. After the death of her husband in 1988, Mrs. Di Gesu continued to be active with the Carmel Art Association and in the local art scene until her demise on April 15, 2000.
