Jean Ferguson Blanchette was born in Dayton, OH on May 7, 1908. Jean Ferguson studied at Michigan State College and won a scholarship to study with Atanas Katchamakoff. As a painter, she began with watercolor but later specialized in portraits in oil. In 1929 she married artist Jon Blanchette and four years later moved to Los Angeles where she designed costumes at Fox Studios. Upon moving to Aptos, CA in 1948, she remained there until her death on Sept. 26, 2000.
