Growing up in Napa Valley, California, she studied art at Sacramento State University and moved to Europe in the 1960's to further her studies in Germany. Upon her return to the U.S. in the 1970's, Marston moved to New England, later Pennsylvania, where she taught and studied American Folk Art.
In the 1990's she moved to the Southwest, painting and studying watercolor and silk painting. She then moved back to the East Coast, and maintains her main studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
