Biography   Jo Polseno

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1924, Polseno spent his Saturdays in the library reading and sketching.  At 16 he spent the summer in Redding, Connecticut, and discovered a wildlife area surrounding the Redding Reservoir known as Redding Glen. 

For 25 years he was a free-lance artist and active as a children's book illustrator in the 1950s and 1960s.  He provided the painted cover for Classics Illustrated No. 114, The Red Rover by James Fenimore Cooper (December 1953).  In 1958, he illustrated a biography of Robert Louis Stevenson for the Grosset and Dunlap "Signature" series.  He also supplied artwork during the 1960s for the following titles in the Grosset and Dunlap Companion Librar   ...  Displaying 750 of 1250 characters.
