Biography Joel Babb
Realist painter Joel Babb creates cityscapes of Boston from photographs he has taken hovering over the city in a helicopter. The artist also paints the Maine coastline and woods as well as portraits and still life works.
Babb was raised in the Midwest and attended Princeton University with the dream of becoming a painter. After earning his MFA from the Boston Museum School he became a faculty member teaching courses on realist painting.
Babb studied under George Segal at the Museum School but credits his greatest influence to Wen Fong who taught a course on Chinese art. Although his works are western in subject, Babb still sees the influence of the Chinese paintings and their feel for nature in his own work. While in school B
