John A. Nogleberg, a gifted artist, portrait, figure, sea- and landscape painter, of Seattle, Washington, was born in Kongsberg, Norway, February 21, 1861. There he received his liberal arts education, and in 1881 immigrated to Chicago where he studied at the Academy of Fine Art and at the Art Institute. Following nine years of study, he moved to Seattle where he had a studio with numerous employees on Second Avenue near its intersection with Union Street. An active member of the YMCA and the Norwegian-Danish M.E. Church, Mr. Nogleberg was also fond of outdoor sport including fishing and hunting.
