Biography John Brekke
In John Brekke’s, (American) glass and in his other forms of art,
regardless of an abstract or figurative subject, the line is the focus
and paramount to the artist’s work. Brekke received a Fulbright
Scholarship to study and work in Australia. Renowned for his work
internationally Brekke’s glass form part of the permanent Collections of
the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, The Cooper-Hewitt Museum and the
Corning Museum of Art and Design.
John Brekke states: “In the
simplest terms, I am a mark-maker. This making of marks,lines,
scratches, and strokes is central to my work and leads, only
incidentally, to an area that is about light, tone and texture.”
