Born on March 21, 1901 in Kilbirnie, Scotland, he came to the U.S. in 1923, and married Bessie (also Scottish) that same year.
His early art training took place in schools in Scotland, including the Paisley Academy of Art. In the U.S. he participated in the organization of the Flint Institute of Arts, where he also attended school and taught life classes for many years. He worked in all painting and graphic media, and taught graphics during the last years of his life.
Davies exhibited in local, regional and state shows from the early 30's on, as well as in some national shows.
