Biography John Segesman
Specializing in wildlife painting, Segesman was born in 1899 in Spokane, Washington. He attended Spokane, Washington North Central High School; studied art at the University of Washington; the Academy of Arts in Chicago; and the Cornish Art School in Seattle, Washington. He served in Navy in World War I.
Early on, he worked at the Jacksonville Journal (Florida) as an illustrator. He married his wife, who was a vaudevillian who toured with Al Jolson, in Jacksonville. They moved to Seattle, Washington, and then moved to Spokane, Wa. where he helped form the Spokane, Washington Art Board and was president for two years.
