Originally from Wabern, Switzerland, John and Elizabeth Moser and their son, John Henri, joined the LDS Church in the 1880's in Bern, Switzerland, then immigrated to Utah in 1881. Settling in Payson, Utah, the Mosers later moved to Logan where young Henri worked at farming. The youth developed an early interest in the visual arts and eventually found work in a print shop in Enterprise during his teens. Then in 1898, he returned to Logan to tell his parents that he'd decided to attend college and was going up to the Gilt-Edge mine in Montana to earn enough money to begin his studies.
