Painter, illustrator. Born in Paterson, NJ on Dec. 16, 1850.
Stimson studied at Yale University and in Paris at Ecole des Beaux Arts. He was a director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, founder of Artist-Artisan Institute in New York, and the School of Fine & Industrial Arts in Trenton, NJ. During his career he authored three books on art education. By 1916 he had retired to southern California and settled in Corona.
