John Whitlock Codner (1913-2008)
He was the son of Maurice Codner who was also a successful painter (Maurice exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy and was a close friend of Alfred Munnings). The contact with both his father and with Munnings were highly influential in shaping the career of John. After service in WWII John entered a very productive period, and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal West of England Academy ; he was ultimately elected as a academician in the RWA. His works are in numerous public and private collections in the UK, most notably at the RWA.
