Jon R. Friedman was born 1947 in Washington D.C. He received a BA in Philosophy from Princeton University and an MFA in painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan with additional study at the Corcoran Museum School and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Friedman is a painter, portraitist and sculptor.
