Jos Trotteyn (b. April 22, 1910, in Blankenberghe, Belgium-d. January 18, 2002)

Known as a surrealist-naturalist painter, his work cannot be classified in one single art movement.  Subjects of his work were dreams, fantasy, surrealist landscapes, women, masks.  Other people knew Jos as restorer of fine art by several old Flemish painters such as Pourbus, Van Eyck, Nicolaas de Liemaeckere, Justus Daneels  and many more recent painters as well.
 
After World War I Jos Trotteyn moved to Ghent together with parents and family and studied from 1919 to 1923 at the English Club in Ghent.  Later on he studied from 1923 to 1933 the art of drawing (teacher Domien Ingels) and decorative painting (teachers : Oscar   ...  Displaying 750 of 1720 characters.
