Biography Joseph Dynes
Nothing is known of Joseph Dynes's early life and training, and it was in 1856 that he was first noted as a painter and photographer. His photography work consisted of tinting photographic enlargements. Later in life he concentrated solely on commissions by Quebec churches to paint religious subjects, landscapes and portraiture. He is described by William Forsey as a typical journeyman artist of the nineteenth century.
