Biography Jules Coignet
Similar to Camille Corot (1796-1875) and Charles-François Daubigny (1817-1878), Jules Coignet received his education from the historic landscape painter Jean-Victor Bertin (1767-1842).
In 1821 he left Paris to continue his education in Italy, where he developed an interest in view painting. He recorded his impressions in his pocket notebooks. He accumulated numerous sketches and drawings, which he developed (after the fact) into paintings in his studio.
