Biography Julia Rogers
A wildlife painter married in 2001 to wildlife artist Matthew Hillier, Julia Rogers says that she and her husband are a "product of the wildlife art circuit." They met at a plein-air painting workshop in Montana, started dating at a wildlife art show at the Washington DC Zoo, and got engaged at a waterfowl festival. However, they have separate studios so that she can have a quiet environment and he can listen to the radio.
She was raised in the Chesapeake Bay area, and lived with her husband in Washington DC before moving to Maryland. There they have their home with backyard studios along a creek in a village named Tunis Hills, within Easton on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay and near her family.
