Biography Julian Garnsey
Julian Garnsey, a noted professor and active lecturer in the art community, was most well known as an accomplished watercolorist, muralist, and designer. The son of a muralist, Elmer E. Garnsey, Julian was born in New York City in 1887. He studied architecture and design at Harvard University and also studied at the Art Students League in New York. Then he to Paris to study privately under Jean-Paul Laurens and Richard Miller.
For ten years, Garnsey assisted his father in painting commissioned murals, and he served as the President of the Art Students League in New York from 1915 to 1917. After serving in the United States Army as a Captain of Field Artillery during World War I, Garnsey moved to Southern California for a brief time,
