Julien (Jules) Hudson was active/lived in Louisiana.  Julien Hudson is known for miniature portrait painting.

Biography   Julien (Jules) Hudson

Julien Hudson was a miniaturist and teacher who studied under A. Meucci in New Orleans and briefly in Paris.

He is known to have worked in New Orleans during the 1830's, and may have been the first black artist in the South and the second in the country after Joshua Johnston (1765-1830), the earliest known black artist in the United States.
