Biography Karl Gampenrieder
Karl Gampenrieder (1860-1930) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Gyula Benczúr, Alexander Wagner and Wilhelm von Lindenschmidt the Younger. Afterwards he trained at the Académie Julian in Paris under William Adolphe Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury.
Gampenrieder was active in his hometown of Munich, where he was a member of the Artists' Association and participated in numerous exhibitions. He mainly worked as a portrait painter and created numerous portraits of members of the local high society. (tfa)
