Kate Parker Scott Boyd was born 23 October 1836 in New York the daughter of Andrew Scott of Flushing, New York. Her father was a fine amateur artist born in Paisley, Scotland. Andrew's portfolio was of watercolors. She attended the Flushing Female College under the charge of Rev. William Gilder.
Kate Scott married Rev. N.E. Boyd in 1862. They lived in Portland, ME and Canastota, NY having two sons both of whom died at an early age. Kate Boyd derived income from the art exhibited and sold at the Academies of Design in New York and Brooklyn.
