Biography   Kathleen Collateta


Kathleen Collateta Sandia is a Hopi Tewa potter. She is the daughter of Tom Collateta Sr. who is a Hopi kachina carver. She learned the art of pottery at age 16.

Her grandmother, Sarah Collateta, taught her the intricacies of the ancient designs as well as how to paint them. Her pottery is hand coiled, made with natural clay and the paint is all from natural pigments.

She and her husband Adrian Sandia have won numerous awards for their work. They live on the Jemez Pueblo with their three children.

She signs her work K. Collateta, Hopi-Tewa.
