Biography Kathleen Houlahan
Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Kathleeen Houlahan became a painter of western subjects including mountain landscapes, Indians whom she painted in the Southwest in the 1920s, and portraits including Ezra Meekers.
She lived as a child in Pasadena, California from the age of three. In 1901, she moved to Seattle and attended the University of Washington from 1902 to 1907. For her landscape paintings she often went by pack horse into the Cascade range and also visited other sites including the San Juan Islands, the Hood Canal, and the Neah Reservations.
Houlahan never married and was most active as an artist between 1914 and 1938. She exhibited widely including the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exhibition, the National Arts Club, the Salons of Am
