Born and raised in the Redwoods of Ft Bragg, California, Ken Newman is known for pushing the envelope of wildlife art in raw forms of wood, forging viewers and collectors to question and explore his sculptures.
In 1980, he began sculpting in wood during an Independent Study Humanities class at Sacramento State University in CA. After graduating with a degree in Recreation Administration amidst the California Prop 13 tax initative, jobs in the public recreation field declined and he went back into logging.
