An important Inuit sculptor, carver, draftsman and printmaker, Kiawak Ashoona (aka: Kiugak Ashoona) was born at the Tariugajak camp on Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada and currently (2014) lives near Cape Dorset (on Baffin Island), Nunavut. Ashoona's carvings, drawings and prints have been included in dozens of major exhibitions and his works are in the collections of numerous museums including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the British Museum (London, England), the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
